Things Have Changed

It’s been so long since I blogged! Hahaha! I suppose I always say this when I write a new entry.

I miss Sentosa Spooktacular! Went there for the staff preview, 2nd last day and the last day. I should have gone for all 6 nights!

I think if I hadn’t gave away my staff ticket, I wouldn’t be writing this blog. I gave my staff ticket away as I planned not to come for the event as it fell on my off day. On that day itself, I came down in the morning to do some filming on Kai’s GoPro and ended up staying later than I expected. I decided to join Yamini and Wati for lunch at TOA as I decided to leave after having lunch with them. As we were paying our meals, Berg Ramli from Events was near the counter and asked me if I was going for Spooktacular? Told him I wasn’t as I gave my ticket away. He asked if I wanted to go. He continued to say that he could let me in for free if I took photos for him. I was contemplating at first. He gave me his number telling me if I decide to come, give him a call. I had my camera with me but I didn’t bring my flash. I asked Yamini if I could borrow her car and drive home to take my camera flash. She agreed.

I went there, took some photos went for just one trail because the other trails were having queues that were just too long!

When I got home, uploaded the pictures and I slept right after that.

On the same week on the weekend, The Singapore Open Water Lifesaving Competition was on. It was a history in the making.

I have a different approach on how I’ll be photographing them this year.

Beach Patrol 2012 Team

Randon Tan in his Ironman heats where he went to win silver in the finals on the same day.

The Beach Patrol brought back 2 gold, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes! Congrats boys!

I managed to browse the pictures I took at Spooktacular during my rest day. Saw the picture below to be rather interesting.

Then I changed it to black and white. BOOM! I got the picture.

Retouched a little and this was what I got.  This was my personal favorite.

I posted this photo on my Instagram with #sentosa #spooktacular #2012 and this guy found this picture and told me that the girl was his friend. I told the guy to thank her for me. Then she retweeted it and I was over the moon!

I went back on the 2nd last day to see if I can find her but I disappointed that she wasn’t wearing the same costume. Someone else was. After some time, I manage to find her in another costume.  Which I think her previous one was much better.

This time I brought a friend of mine, Yao Rong, along. My photo setup was much different that night. I didn’t bring a flash but instead I brought an LED light which was a tip given by a photographer friend whom uses LED light to shoot street photography at low light environments. I thought I tried it out.

Since my friend came, I asked if I could use his help to light up the talents as I take a photo of them and he said ok.

A shot I took of him holding the LED with the fog surrounding him. Loved this in black and white!

These are some of the photos that I was able to create with just one LED light.

I did manage to find her at the rest area! She’s one of the twins!

I am really proud of myself for being able to create some very nice pictures from The Singapore Open Water Lifesaving Competition and Sentosa Spooktacular 2012. A year ago I started my photography hobby and now I'm impressed at what I am able to create. I hope to create better pictures in the future. Cheers!

Max Brenner's Banana Split Waffle

This is what I had for my last day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Banana Split Waffle from Max Brenner.

I have finally come to the last dessert of my 30 days desserts project! It's such a great feeling to complete it but at the same time sad that it has ended. Looking back at all those photos brings me to the time where and when I had them. Good memories.

Swiss Bake Chocolate Eclair

This is what I had for my twenty nineth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had chocolate eclair from Swiss Bake.

I don't remember having this kind of eclair's for a very long time. Had those mini eclairs a few times but I hadn't start this project yet.

This one is filled with chocolate cream, and some are filled with vanilla or even custard cream. Nice mix of chocolate and pastry with every bite. Probably not the best I've tasted but it's definitely a nice try for those starting a similar project :)

Beard Papa Cream Puff with chocolate filling

This is what I had for my twenty eighth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had cream puff with chocolate filling from Beard Papa.

I like this cream puffs a lot! The first time I had it many years ago, I got hooked by it. I've never found any better than this.

This was the last few pieces that the shop had as it were closing for the day. Thankfully, this was as close to the original one but with chocolate filling. The puff itself is soft and the cream is very nicely balanced. A bite from it makes you want to have more!

A very nice dessert indeed. Cheaper than most desserts and definitely delicious too.

Yigloo's Natural Froyo with Fruity Pebbles.

This is what I had for my twenty seventh day of my 30 days desserts project and I had natural froyo with fruity pebbles from Yigloo.

This was the nearest froyo from my work and thank goodness a friend told me about it. I was beginning to hate traveling to get my desserts.

I like the sour taste of the original flavor of this froyo and the texture. To finish it off, I added some color with fruity pebbles.

Eatzi Gourmet Restaurant Mango Sliced Cake

This is what I had for my twenty sixth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Mango Sliced Cake from Eatzi Gourmet Restaurant.

Bought this at Bedok soon after I got my Canon 5D Mark 2 from a fellow ClubSnap member. I was more interested to play with my new toy than to do find a dessert for my project.

I love mangoes and any dessert with mangoes are usually very sweet and nice. This was no exception. The top layer was slices of mangoes held together by a jelly, layered with vanilla cream, mango cream, cake, mango cream and a thin crust.

It was sweet, soft and easily eaten. A reasonable portion for 1 person.

Starbucks Chocolate Molten Cake

Today's the twenty fifth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Chocolate Molten Cake from StarBucks.

This cake was really full of chocolatey sin! The amount of chocolate in this is a lot!

The cake is covered by thick chocolate fudge with more chocolate in the middle. Anything else below the fudge is chocolate sponge cake which is thick and chcolatey.

This cake pass on over chocolatey goodness. Pairing it with a Starbucks drink would complete the experience.

Ah Chew Desserts' Durian Mango Sago & Pomelo

Today's the twenty forth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Durian Mango Sago & Pomelo from Ah Chew Desserts.

This dessert was a mouthful to say but it was delicious.

It was mango slices which was sweet, pomelo that was mixed with the durian flesh and a very sweet mango watery puree! Sweet bliss!

The durian flesh was really nice. The aroma and taste is just awesome! Love the crunch from the pomelo as usual.

Drop by this place with some company and you'll have a nice time hanging out!

Soghurt Plain and Red Velvet Froyo

Today's the twenty third day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Plain and Red Velvet froyo from Soghurt.

I think Froyo have a special place in my heart. Having it again after the last one makes me so happy! It's like ice cream, but it's something else more special.

I like the plain froyo compared to the red velvet here. It tasted so much nicer. So much more original. It's a little sour but I like it a lot. I can't describe how the red velvet taste like but it's not to my liking. Sorry red velvet lovers.

I added my favourite rainbow rice toppings and almond slices for some additional texture.

I really enjoyed eating this Froyo and looking forward to have more of it!

Dessert Cup Fabulous Chocolat

Today's the twenty second day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Fabulous Chocolat from Dessert Cup.

This one was described that it had many different chocolate within it's chocolate top and white paper sides. And it's quite big for a cupcake really, in my opinion.

The moment I dig in, there was no stoppage of chocolate goodness. It's all chocolate everywhere. Good for chocolate lovers.

Unfortunately, it's a little dry. And sometimes too much chocolate is just too much and this was the case. My fault would have been not sharing it and not finding a perfect beverage to go with it.

Best advice to go with this, share it!

Pure Vanilla's Salted Caramel and Red Velvet cupcakes

Today's the twenty first of my 30 days desserts project and I had Salted Caramel and Red Velvet cupcakes from Pure Vanilla.

This was a surprised to me from a friend and I was thrilled! This is the first 2 cupcakes that I'm having for my 30 days desserts project.

The packaging is very simple which I really like it a lot. The cupcakes are put in a box where they are put nicely on a hole which fits them nicely.

The salted caramel icing was very sweeeeeeeet! You can instantly taste the caramel right after you take a bite from it. The cupcake is soft, fragrant and has some nice caramel taste to it too.

The red velvet is not that sweet but it's still nice. Like the texture of the cupcake and the vanilla cream that it has on it.

Sharing this with a good friend was the best thing I had for the day.

Chendol

Today's the twentieth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had chendol from a stall nearby my home.

They sell many local desserts like this chendol, cheng teng, ice kachang and many others. I actually ordered cheng teng but the lady heard me wrong and got me a chendol instead.

I hadn't had chendol for a long time so I dug in. The portion is really quite nice, not too much and not too little. Good if you have had a nice meal.

Thanks to the gula melaka, that makes the dessert sweet and the coconut milk makes it really creamy which is really nice.

Local desserts really make me feel homely. Eat it with some friends and you'll have a great gathering coming.

Yin Tian's personally made Durian Pudding

Today's the nineteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Durian Pudding which is personally made by Yin Tian.

The last time I had her jellies which was nice. Not your usual jelly texture but it was nice nonetheless. Now she has made me a durian pudding to try.

I don't really know how a good pudding's texture should be like but I like this pudding's taste. The durian taste is very mild which I like and it's sweet too!

I am really grateful to Yin Tian for letting me try her desserts cos she told me she didn't even made it for her boyfriend.

KFC's Egg Tarts

Today's the eighteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Egg Tarts from KFC.

These tarts are actually tasty. The sides are fluffy and crispy and the middle is really nice and soft. It's best eaten while its warm.

It's definitely good to buy and share after you had a KFC's meal and want to stay longer and have a good chat with an old buddy or with some friends.

Since it's pastry, having it with a hot beverage might be a nice combo.

Little Pancakes' Strawberry or Me

Today's the seventeenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Strawberry or Me from Little Pancakes.

This is the 2nd time I've been here and I can't wait to dig in to the pancakes! I like strawberries so I ordered this.

It's served with 10 small pancakes, a vanilla ice cream, strawberry yoghurt, butter and real maple syrup. Everything seems to be at the right portion.

The pancakes were awesome as always. I can eat just the pancakes with the maple syrup and butter just like that.

You got to try them yourself to taste how good the little pancakes are. You'll not be dissapointed!

Mac's Horlicks McFlurry

Today's the sixteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Horlicks McFlurry from Mac's

I remember having this before but I think it was a long time ago. McFlurry always tastes good and it will always be. The vanilla ice cream is very creamy that's for sure.

It was mixed with Horlick's powder and some crushed biscuits. Same biscuits they use when they had the McFlurry Macaroons which gives a nice crunch.

You get a free Horlicks Malties when you buy the Horlicks McFlurry! Double goodness!

Today's the sixteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Buster's Weekly Cheesecake from Coffee Bean.

I can't remember the last time I had Coffee Bean's dessert. But through this project, I finally am having one.

I don't know why it's called Buster's Weekly Cheesecake but I know that it was very thick. I had it ordered to dine in but half way through it, I felt full. Must be my shrinking stomach.

The cheesecake it thick and the blueberry on top doesn't really have a strong flavor. The cheesecake flavor is very strong and it being thick can make you get sick of it easily.

I ate half of it and brought the other half home for my sister. This is a good cheesecake to share. Share the love.

Mac's Cinnamon Melts

Today's the fifteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Cinnamon Melts from Mac's.

I fell in love with this the first time I had it because I love how delicious it taste.

It's just amazing how they put it all in together to make it so nice. I shall find out one day and make it a menu on my own cafe.

It's basically bread with some sugar and cinnamon that's all. Put it in an oven and let the sugar melt and the cinnamon gets all over the bread.

I can't have it often as I get sick of it but eaten at the right day, it's bliss!

Awfully Chocolate's Chocolate Ice Cream

Today's the thirteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Chocolate Ice Cream from Awfully Chocolate.

I know Awfully Chocolate makes one of the best chocolate truffles I've ever tasted. Now it's time for the ice cream.

A single scoop costs $3.80 which is quite pricey but I know it's going to be worth it. I wasn't disappointed.

The ice cream was put in the box where they usually put the truffles in when you buy them. What mattered more was how it would taste.

It tasted like an ordinary dark chocolate when I first took the first scoop. As I start digging in, I could taste the similar taste of the truffle. It's like Awfully Chocolate's signature taste. As I had the last few scoops, I wish there was more. It was just chocolatey good.

All chocolate lovers should try at least once in their lives.

Mac's Caramel and Chocolate Frappe

Today's the twelfth day of my 30 days desserts project and I had Caramel and Chocolate Frappe from Mac's.

I actually ordered the caramel frappe and my colleague ordered the chocolate frappe so we could taste both beverages. It's a new beverage Mac's.

As it was a sunny day at work today, and these 2 beverages makes the perfect desserts. It's nicely put in a plastic cup with a tight cover to keep all the goodness from spilling out.

I like the caramel to the chocolate but my friend was the other way around. The caramel frappe was sweeter and the caramel taste was much stronger than the coffee and I like how the mix was to my liking. The chocolate frappe has a stronger chocolate taste and it's slightly bitter but it's still sweet. It's texture was not as smooth as the caramel but it definitely has people liking this one that the caramel.

I'm happy that there's an alternative to the much more pricier Starbucks or Coffee Bean frappes

Swirl Art's Mango Cheesecake and Cookies & Cream Froyo with Rainbow Rice, Peach Slices and Hershey's Chocolate Sauce

Today's the thirteenth day of my 30 days desserts project and today's dessert is Mango Cheesecake and Cookies & Cream Froyo with rainbow rice, peach slices and Hershey's chocolate sauce from Swirl Art.

My expectation for Swirl Art stall was that it would be the same as any frozen yoghurt stall but I was surprised of it's concept. You serve your own froyo and toppings. Once you're done, you weigh your froyo and pay for the amount of weight of it all. Definitely something I really did not expect.

For all delicious things I put in my cup, I wasn't able to taste how the froyo tasted but I like what it tasted when it's all mixed! It tastes like ice cream! I love the rainbow rice the most!

But actually, I did try both the mango cheesecake and cookies & cream before I poured it in the cup. The mango cheesecake tasted like peach. Maybe it's just my taste buds. The cookies & cream tasted like chocolate! yums!

All I can say that this is the biggest amount of froyo I ever had. Satisfying!

Mei Heong Yuen Dessert's Strawberry Mango Shaved Ice

Today's the eleventh day of my 30 days desserts project and today's dessert is Strawberry Mango Shaved Ice from Mei Heong Yuen Dessert's.

I've been to this stall once many month's ago. It's located near the Mac's along Chinatown and located along the shop houses.

The dessert I ordered came very fast. What I like about the dessert was the choice of fruit flavor, strawberry and mango. It was nicely decorated with the sliced fruits of the flavor and syrup pored over it. Then there were these colored balls that the same color as the fruits.

The shaved ice texture was really good. Nice and smooth. The fruits were really sweet which I liked. As for the colored balls, it gave a very sweet taste when you pop it inside your mouth. It's the first time I ate these balls and I like them too!

I was really happy to be able to eat this. Love the colors and how it tasted. Cool and sweet!

BK's Hershey's Sundae Pie

Today's the tenth day of my 30 days desserts project. BK's Hershey's Sundae Pie was on the menu for today's dessert.

I remember trying this before but I don't remember the last time I had this. This time I'm going to remember.

As I open the dessert from the box, I had the feeling that it ain't going to taste so good. Or maybe I just don't feel like eating it.

As I took the first bite, I find it easy to eat it. There's not much flavor to it. Chocolate crust, vanilla cream, chocolate cream and frozen chocolate.

It really tastes like fast food. Just chilled.

MacD's Banana Crunch McFlurry.

Today's the ninth day of my 30 days desserts project. MacD's Banana  Crunch McFlurry is today's dessert.

MacD's McFlurry always tastes good no matter what time you eat. As long as you don't eat it too often that is. Maybe not to some.

I don't eat the Oreo McFlurry often but I always like to try their limited time specials. It's like a good deal and it tastes good. I don't really fancy banana flavored stuff because I think it tastes weird but I eat banana cake.

For this special, I think they add some banana syrup and rice crispies. That's all. I do taste some banana but it quickly disappears once the ice cream started to melt but the rice crispies give a nice texture and taste to the whole experience.

I'm happy about today's dessert. Hadn't had MacD's food for sometime, which I think is good for me. I'll be waiting for the next McFlurry special! Go try one and you'll like it!

Yin Tian's personally made Jellies with sliced peaches.

Today's the eighth day of my 30 days desserts project. This time I had some of my colleague's Jellies with sliced peaches.

I was really looking forward to tasting some jellies when Yin Tian said she that she would make some jellies for me for my desserts project. My first impression on them when she showed me today was that it looked good! But what matters was how it tastes!

Usually most jellies will break apart easily when you put it in your mouth but this one was different. It was rather tough to chew. You could bite it easily really, it's just that you have to use the rear set of teeth to actually to be able to chew it.

This is the first time I ate jelly in such texture and it was refreshing to try something new like that. Surprised I was and loved it.

She says she's gonna make durian pudding when she comes by again. Can't wait!

Yoguru's Original and Blueberry yoghurt

Today's the seventh day of my 30 days desserts project. This time I had Yoguru's Original and Blueberry yoghurt from Raffles City.

Rejoice! I'm 1/4 away from completion!

What I like about this yoghurt is the taste. The blueberry taste is quite mild but it gives nice aroma. The original was my favorite. It taste a lot like plain yoghurt that you buy from the supermarket which I like. A little sour. Yums!

Why no toppings? I think putting toppings just isn't worth the money really. It's not possible for me to give any review if there's distraction to the main dessert right?

For the price of $3.40, it was a good buy for me. Loved it! Not until a large portion of it dropped when I was scooping without looking. My mouth felt the loss of that portion :(
Today's the sixth day of my 30 days desserts project. This time I had Scoopz's Chocolate Ganache and Mocha ice cream at Upper Thompson.

I'm almost to a week to my project! Hooray!

I was suppose to have pancakes from Little Pancakes but unfortunately my friends and I were late. We were actually arrived an hour before at midnight but they closed early for some maintenance that they were doing, so no pancakes. So we walked around the area is we could find another one and we happened to find Scoopz.

Scoopz sells ice cream, hot and cold beverages like hot chocolate and iced lattes and waffles with ice cream. With such array of menus, going there would means enjoying different desserts.

I chose chocolate ganache because it had marshmallows in it. The taste of the chocolate its very nice. Thick and flavorful. As for the maocha, it just taste mocha. But what I like about the ice cream was that it felt thicker and stretchier. What I mean by stretchier is that it felt like like it had some stretch when you scoop it up. Maybe it's just me but I liked how it feels stretchier.

If I do come down the next time, I'm gonna try the chocolate ice cream on waffles!

Berrylite's mixed Chocolate and Strawberry Yoghurt with granola, fruity pebbles and mango

Today's the fifth day of my 30 days desserts project. This time I went to Northpoint where I had frozen yoghurt from Berrylite.

Like most frozen yoghurt outlets, they have different flavors other than the original. Before I embark on this project, I only thought that they had one flavor which is the original. Now I am more informed of what they sell other than the many toppings they have.

I had my yoghurt of mixed chocolate and strawberry with toppings of granola, fruity pebbles and mango. What I got was a cup full of goodies! And every spoonful is bliss! The strawberry flavor is much more distinct than the chocolate and it's sweet! But to my surprise, both flavors compliments each other well. The texture of the yoghurt is very nice. Melts deliciously in the mouth. Yums!

For the price of $5.40 for a small cup, 2 flavor yoghurt and 3 toppings(buy 2 get another 1 free), you'll get a delicious dessert that would put a smile on any kids faces. Adults included.

Cheesecake Cafe's Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake

This is my 4th dessert for my 30 day desserts project. This is a chocolate brownie cheesecake from Cheesecake Cafe. I did not plan for this dessert today but since I was around the corner, why not.

I was suppose to have Lao Ban beancurd today but the shop was closed due to the food court being washed and cleaned till tomorrow.

The cheesecake is really nice. I really like the chocolate fudge that's on the top layer. It's so sweet! There are actually brownie slices in the cheesecake itself that adds a nice soft texture when you bite into it. I feel like the cheese itself is quite okay but the whole cake itself is an indulge. There's some walnuts in the brownie but you can't really taste it when you dig in to this delicious cheese cake.

It's reasonably priced at $7.50 but $0.30 is added when you takeaway. Do drop by the cafe as it's very unique when you go inside. No pictures of the interior as no photography and video is allowed. Seriously.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Today's the 3rd day of my 30 days desserts project. I actually planned to have another dessert at another place but so happens I was invited to a buffet at Sentosa's new kids attraction called Port Of Lost Wonder celebrating their success.

There were loads of free food! Hahaha! They had satay which I really love because the onions that comes along with the dish is almost unlimited and I love my satay with onions! Yum!

Okay let's get back to desserts. There were a few desserts which was available so I was deciding which to choose from. I decided to try 3 different desserts as the serving was too little if I were to choose 1.

I chose gula melaka mousse, chocolate mousse and cheesecake. All these are made by Sentosa's F&B. They are actually bite size pieces which makes them easy to eat.

The gula melaka mousse is sweet and the gula melaka taste is very strong. You can smell the aroma too. I'm not quite sure what the white thing is at the bottom but it gives texture when you take a spoonful of both the mousse and the white thing. It's nice but 1 cup was enough for me.

The chocolate mousse was delicious! The mousse was soft and smooth and the chocolate pieces adds a good texture to a spoonful. It's not sweet but slightly bitter like dark chocolate. I had 3 of these by the end of the buffet as I love chocolates!

The last piece was a cheesecake. It was soft and yet flavorful. Probably because of the small size, the taste wasn't so distinct but it was alright. I don't mind having it just for filling up my stomach.

By the end of the day, I was almost filled to the brim! But it was a happy day for me as I had great food with some great friends :)

Tom's Palette's Lavender and Hazelnut Latte ice cream

Today's the second day of my 30 days desserts project. I went to Shaw Towers to try Tom's Palette ice creams. There were so many different flavors and some has cool names like Lavender,  and Peanut Butter Chocolate! I saw Lavender and had a try. It was so Lavendery! The first thing I tasted was the smell. Ooh ahh..

What I liked about the place was how simple and colorful it was. Prices could be easily identified and the cup sizes were easily noticed. I picked the medium size which was $4 and I got Lavender and Hazelnut Latte. I was treated to an ice cream that overflowed with goodness!

The serviette that I placed below the cup was dirty with overflown goodness by the time I finished the cup. The Lavender tasted very sweet and was very aromatic. It leaves an aromatic lavendery smell after you swallow the sweet taste of the ice cream. The Hazelnut Latte was no exception. The latte taste was mild and the aroma sweet. You can taste the strong hazelnut flavor which I liked it very much.

Tom's Palette gave me a good impression after just one trip. I can still taste the lingering lavender aroma in my mouth right now. I will definitely go there again for more flavors!

Marble Slab's Caramel Peanut Butter Crumble Crisp

I've restarted my 30 days of dessert project again. This time I plan to complete it! Period.

The first one was from Marble Slab. There were so many flavors to choose from! But I decided to go for something I like which was peanut butter ice cream! The had like tasty creations which are their legendary ice cream mixin combinations. I had one of their tasty creations which was the Caramel Peanut Butter Crumble Crisp on a cup with waffles.

I saw them made the ice cream using vanilla ice cream, peanut, caramel and chocolate chips. It was quite cool seeing them make it really.

How did it taste? hmm.. It taste a lot like vanilla with a hint of caramel. Didn't really taste the peanut. The chocolate chip gave nice texture to the whole experience though some got in the back of my teeth. As for the waffles, it was nice and crispy!

This stall was recommended to me by a friend whom she said was her favourite ice cream place!

too fast

It's been almost a month since the last post. I've been getting really lazy which is really terrible.

To start off, I'm promoted in my job. Hooray right? Likewise really. I neither did celebrate nor told my mum about it. Seriously. But I was grateful and I really am. Or just maybe I don't know how to celebrate.

Emma(my Canon camera) has left for Europe with my BFF, her other half and her younger sister. I miss Emma now :( I did not miss her when I was asked if they could borrow her to Europe. I suppose I'm fond of her being around the house even though I never use her much.

Last Wednesday, I took some shots of Eugene with Emma and an off camera flash. Took some uphill photos and some portraits of him and his bike. Got a couple of good shots but definitely a lot of things to improve! Once Emma comes back, I'm off to shoot more!

Diablo 3 is going to be launch soon! I can't wait! Played the previous 2 games and they were awesome!(at that period of time). Saw some of their recent videos and I can't wait to play! I have not decided which class to play. The Barbarian was the first guy I would pick but then I saw the Demon Hunter and I was like "oooh.. she looks cool..". The Wizard was my third choice and the Witch Doctor came in forth and the Monk last. Wizard looks cool but the spells looks lame. Witch Doctor was very colorful and looked really nice! Okay, the Witch Doctor is now third. What I really like about the Monk is his 7 sided strike skill that's all. No offence but I haven't liked the monk yet. Kicking ass with his bare hands is also cool! Now I think the Monk's cool :)

At this moment, that's all that I can think of.

feeling foolish

There I was waiting for the bus at the interchange to get home. It's like any other day. I was plugged in with my Bose headphones listening to some great music from my iPod nano and trying to reload twitter on my iPhone. I realize that reception at Seah Im is terrible for me. But I was bored, so it helps.

As the bus captain came and where we start boarding the bus, I saw a friend was in the queue as well. Great! Now I have a friend to talk to. Or so I thought. I was more of the listening one by the end of the journey.

I learned so much from just listening to her. Before she started her actual subject, I was actually happy with myself. She had questions that had my melancholy side thinking. She had so much problems and I was thinking to myself, what if I were in her shoes. What she told me was probably a common problem but in a different setting. I damned myself while walking back home for even telling her whatever I said even though I probably spoke less than 100 words. I should have just listened and nod. And maybe probe questions to find out more. But what can I do right? I'm not at her position. To think of it, I should be grateful that I'm not at all.

I questioned myself, what has all that teaching in those books that I have read taught me?

I suppose it's not the best time to answer this question when my emotions are slightly out of control. Compose myself and think about the answer when I'm more positive.

IPPT

IPPT will be on the 22 May 2012 and I will be going for GOLD!!!

I've never gotten a gold before so this is my time!

Sometimes it's just so tough to wear that running shoe and just run. So many excuses. Too tired. Very sleepy. Very lazy. Super hungry. Weather so hot. Having lunch with the boss/colleagues.

Not this time. With the help of Gasz, I will follow a set of training routines that he passed me and I will stick to it. The routine looks good for starting out but I believe that it will be tougher in a few weeks time. No Pain No Gain!

Time to do sprints tomorrow!

Do good and anger disappear

Have you ever been down or angry for some reason or even for reasons you could not understand why? I've been in both situations before. It seems very difficult for us to get logic into our head at that point of distress. Like when you have 2 big basket of laundry to hang dry and your little sister just sits less than 2 meters away while she sings along to some KPOP on YouTube on her laptop. She seems oblivious of what's happening.

Do good and anger disappear. I just figured this out 2 days ago when I was taking a cab home after midnight. I took a cab because I missed my bus stop as I was busy watching YouTube on my iPhone. How it happened was I was at Tanjong Pagar and it was 11.20pm. I planned to take a direct bus home from Outram MRT which is one train stop away from Tanjong Pagar MRT. I was irritated at myself when I took the train and went the other direction to City Hall instead. Then I remembered there's a direct bus home too so I told myself that it wasn't so bad after all.

I was suppose to take bus 700A from the nearby bus stop from City Hall MRT. I waited for about 10 minutes and the bus hasn't arrived. It was 11.35pm and that means the last buses from most bus interchange are on their journey. I started to get anxious. Then the bus 171 came. This bus stops near my place so I hopped on as I did not want to take the chance that 700A was on the way. I wasn't familiar with the bus route at all, just that it stops at where I mostly alight when I take buses home. Thinking that it would take some time to reach my stop, I played some YouTube on my iPhone.

When I looked around to see where I was after some videos, I saw no familiar places. I looked at my watch and it was past midnight. Has the bus passed my neighbourhood? I began to panic, a little. I decided then to just let the bus stop at Yishun bus interchange and I'll take a cab home from there. And I did just that.

I was so angry at myself for what just happened! It was supposed to be quick trip home but instead, it took a longer time and an expensive one too. While I was in the cab, it occurred to me that I was being stupid. Shit happens, I told myself. I asked myself how I can get this anger out of me before I reached home. Then I remember once that I was quite down and really had no mood to talk to anyone while at work. But I decided to do some good hoping that my mood would turn for the better and it did! While in the cab, I decided to let the cab driver to keep the change and I did just that when I alighted. Guess what? I did feel better. I did some good and most of my anger disappeared.

I don't think I've discovered a miracle or something and you guys would probably have your own almost similar experiences. I hope this experience of mine can help you.

Filled with activities!

The week has been great! So many things happened and I feel so blessed. My cousin got married, I went to Transformers Cybertron Convention at Resort's World Sentosa and I participated in Sentosa's first Community Resilience Day. At all these events, I had my camera snapping away.

At my cousin's wedding, I was taking photos of almost everyone I knew and other stuff. Finding the light and how to work out the best possible setting when the bride and groom came. I find it very fun. Snapping away and simply having fun. The bride was my cousin and she's only 23 years this year. I was thinking to myself, I finished my National Service at that age! I can't see myself married soon but I already have a dream to be married with 3 kids when I turn 34. Too soon to say now right?

Went to see Transformers Cybertron Convention at Resort's World Sentosa after work on Monday! I've never seen so many Transformers toys in my whole life! I think they displayed all the Transformers' toys that were ever made. It was so cool! My favourite was Decepticon Construction Devastator from Return Of The Fallen! I just love those that combine to be come one kick ass Transformer. Taking photos in the convention centre was tough as the toys are encased in glass and the convention hall lights were horrible. There would be glare on the glass when I look through the viewfinder. But that didn't stop me from taking photos. I just had to find the right angle to get a good picture and I did just that. Got myself 2 tees from the convention. One white and one black. I was quite happy when I bought it but not till I tried it on at home. I bought L size for both and it felt a little too big. I was really upset at myself for not trying the size before I tried it. I did try the M size but I wore it over a polo tee which made the M size feel small and made me decide to go for the L size. The worst part was that some of my favorite designs were still in stock in M and not L. I beat myself up quite badly that night until I decided to sleep it off. It was such a horrible feeling as the tees weren't cheap. I told myself to not think about it too much and just continue living. It's just a few dollars and everyone has made a wrong buy before. I just need to remember that I have bought good buys too. I have to be grateful. And being grateful will make life so much easier and bearable. Don't you think so?

Sentosa had it's first Community Resilience Day last Tuesday and I was a volunteer photographer for the event. Since I'm a member of Sentosa's Photo Group, I was more than happy to do it! I learned a lot and need to learn a lot more from this event from a photography standpoint. I took about 260 shots and maybe less than half were usable. But I discovered some gems from all that photos. It's not a perfect picture but it was definitely a gem in my mind and those photos will be treasure in the future. What I need to do now is to learn more is how to get better pictures with very little and dim lightings using an external flash.

About the event itself, in my humble opinion, Sentosa was probably wanted to practice evacuation from Songs of The Sea. It was a smoothly coordinated event from where I could see it. Started at 6pm but there wasn't anyone but the staff only. Friends and families only came from 6.30pm onwards and the Songs of The Sea would only start at 8.40pm. What I love about the event was the cotton candy! It was just so pretty and nice and sweet! Met some of the other staff from the other departments whom I know and we had a little catching up.

It's been an exciting week and it's not over yet. I hope there will be more fun stuff coming up in the coming week to have more opportunity to shoot! Goodnight!

Finish it off witha dessert

I ended my 30 days dessert project a few days ago. Why you would ask? I have no one answer to that question. Let me give you some answers to that question.

It's not cheap. Nothing is cheap in Singapore right? What I mean was that I was spending a lot more daily before I started this project. It was my mistake not to calculate how much I would spend in total. I did however sum up that at SGD$300 would suffice for the project. But I only had that answer on my 10th day dessert streak.

It's high in calories. I don't count calories but I know that too much in a day is not good for you. Imagine the amount in a month. I'm a lazy bum naturally so some times I don't exercise often(confession). That lack of exercise could potentially make me unfit or even worse, sick. Being unfit and sick feels horrible. Don't you think so?

No Time. This is the biggest obstacle for me. When I end work at 9.30pm at night, most shop closes. Other than that, I just want to go home as soon as possible and have a good night's rest and do other stuff. I'm also quite hungry at that hour. What if I end at 7.30pm? I still want to go home and have a good night's rest and do other stuff.

These are the 3 reasons why I want to stop the project. But I will do this project in the future when I have more time and more money.

What I got out of this project is priceless. I think I did not say how I started this idea. I just wanted to try something different. My life is quite monotonous really. I'm a phlegmatic person (go read the book Personality Plus) by nature so I'm a bum. I love to read and listen to music, in which both activities you can do while bumming right? I just acted on the idea without planning it that's all. Just do it. I was actually excited about it and told some of my friends about it. They then told me some places I should go and try their desserts and I did that.

The whole experience of going some place new is always exciting and fun! Went to places I've never been before and tasted some of the nicest desserts, so far for me. I'll take this as a lesson to try new stuff, let it be food or an activity. Try something new everyday or make someone's day better . Even better, do both.

Swiss Bake ..something Berry

This will be my last dessert for my 30 days dessert project. I have to stop the project as it's quite a challenge to continue. I'll explain in the next post.

I did not remember this dessert's name. It's something Berry and it's a cheesecake. What a way to end the project huh? Bought this at Swiss Bake at Harbourfront Centre 2 days back for SGD$3.90. Bought it home to let whoever was at home to try.

Only my mum and my sis was around when I got home so I let my mum tried it first. My mum loved it. She said that this was so much nicer than the one I bought from Fruit Paradise. My sis loved it too. It's very cheesy and has a very limey taste which makes it very delicious. The berry gives a nice sour taste while the chocolate gives that extra flavor to the cake. I love how it gives a nice mix of flavors a lot. Worth the money.

I really enjoyed eating this cake. Full of flavors and delicious to eat as well. A good way to end the day with.

McDonald's Macaroon McFlurry

The dessert you can find almost everywhere, Macs McFlurry! This is the limited time Macaroon McFlurry which I had for SGD$2 with a digital coupon. Bought this at the Harbourfront outlet as the coupon stated that it doesn't apply to the iFly outlet.

The ingredients are some sugar syrup, hot fudge chocolate, some biscuits and vanilla ice cream. It's a sweet tooth's dream. It's really sweet, and it's delicious too. You could taste the sugar, chocolate, vanilla and the biscuit all in one. You can't go wrong with this one.

I don't know what they'll have after this item is gone. I hope they bring back the OREO mint back. That's my favorite! Try this after having your extra value meal. You'll leave McDonald's happier.

Chocolate Fantasy, Durian on durian paste with pomelo and almond paste

I had a feast of desserts this time. 3 at a time! I had these at Dessert First along Liang Seah Street at Bugis last Saturday. This shop was recommended me by a very good friend of mine and his recommendation was not a disappointment.

I didn't know what I was expecting when he guided me to the shop. There are so many kinds of desserts right? The shop looked like those olden days Chinese stall but on modern day facilities. But actually it's just like any other shop. I saw a picture of a shaved ice strawberry on the pillar outside the shop and that reminded my that it's one of those Chinese dessert shops. I like these kind of desserts. They make me happy.

There was a lot on the menu. The menu is already placed on the table laminated so you don't have to ask for any and they'll just give you a piece of paper with some lines and you write your orders on it. We ordered chocolate fantasy, durian on durian paste with pomelo and almond paste.

All 3 orders came to our table at the same time and I was ready to plunge into all of them! The chocolate fantasy was shaved chocolate ice with some koko krunch and probably some sprinkle of Milo. I loved the taste and texture of this dessert. It's cold and chocolatey! Very simple and I liked it a lot! The almond paste was nice. It was warm and has a very nice texture. I think most almond paste desserts are almost similar so if you've tried it somewhere before, you know how it is. The durian on durian paste with pomelo was simply bliss. I could not explain how it tasted when I took my first bite. All I can show to my friend when he asked me how it was was with a very happy smile. He then took his first bite and he understood why. If you eat durians, you must try this before you die! The texture is so nice! The durian flavor is simply delicious while the pomelo does give some nice added texture to the whole experience.

I enjoyed all 3 desserts that day. I would go back to the shop and eat the same thing again, but with more friends to share the good food. Highly recommended when you're in the area.

Fruit Paradise's Nutty Caramel and Chocolate Strawberry

This time I had 2 desserts. Got them both from the Vivocity outlet. From the looks of it, they looked very delicious. So many slices of fruits and so visually striking! I picked these two as I like strawberry, chocolate, nuts and caramel(their individual names bears the things I like). Even the box looks nice.

Got them both and brought them home to share with my mum and younger sis. My aunt was also around when I got home so I let them tried out after I took photos of it. After looking at the photos, I think I should have just snapped them normally on some table with some light and not on the rear of a poster.

My mum's first response to both cakes were that they had too much cream. Same goes for my aunt. My sis liked them both. My thoughts were already influenced to my mum's response but I told myself that I had to give my own personal opinion.

I like the Nutty Caramel better as it had more ingredients as the nuts made it taste as it had more texture. The Chocolate Strawberry was good but the strawberry wasn't as sweet as I had expected(my mum bought strawberry a few days ago and it tasted sweet like sugar). I had to agree with my mum and aunt as there was too much cream on both cakes. The proportion of cake, cream and fruits for these 2 looked similar when you look at it.

My mum, my aunt and myself ate about half of each cake before we left the remainder of the cake for my sis to indulge. I was quite disappointed actually. It's not cheap too though. I'd rather have MaCafe's cheesecake over these two.

I take this experience in my project as a way learning new stuff. I've liked most of the desserts I've tried and it had been a wonderful journey. Fans of Fruit Paradise, it's just not plate of dessert. But it's the visually creatively and colorful desserts I've seen so far.
